Atonement Staff
Nancy Jahnke - Office Manager
I grew up in Austin, MN. When Bruce and I were first married we lived in Emmons, MN and then moved to Spirit Lake, IA, Bruce worked for Berkley's (a fishing equipment company) and I worked for the Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and as a secretary for the elementary school principal. We moved up to the Twin Cities in 1978 and I was the secretary in the Volunteer Department at Mercy Hospital for 11 months - until our first child was born. While our children were young I did babysitting at home and volunteered a lot at Bel Air Elementary School and at Atonement. I was also a Cub Scout Den mother for 7 years. I started job sharing with Jan Kimble at Atonement in October of 1989 and also job shared with Betsy Carlson. In 1995 Betsy took another job and I was left alone in the office. Atonement is a wonderful, stimulating and challenging place to be. It is great to be around excited and energized people who want to share the love of Jesus. I have become very aware of the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives.
Shannon Brockshus - Minister of Music
I grew up in Sibley, Iowa, a small farming community, as part of an active musical family. I loved to sing and play in band and school, and was always doing both in church as well. I studied music at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Eventually, I narrowed my musical interest to church music , although Luther did not have a degree in it. I graduated with a BA in Vocal Music and a minor in Religion and moved straight into graduate school at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. I recently earned my Master's in Sacred Music in Conducting, and am looking forward to growing in my musical ministry here at Atonement.
Diane Lightbody - Accompanist
I come from a beef and dairy farm in SW Minnesota where we didn't do much more than work, church, school, and of course MUSIC. I started accompanying in church when I was in third grade. My dad, sister, and I sang in the "Jensen Trio." In addition, Dad was also in a men's quartet and I played duets with my sister on the baritone horn and she on the trombone. Eventually I enrolled at Crown College and was able to take organ lessons and did a lot of organ playing for years. I graduated from Crown College with a BA degree in Church Music, and have played ever since. It is also at Crown College where I traveled in summer tours with a quartet that included Dwight Williams. It is a privilege and pleasure to work with such loving, caring and giving people at Atonement.
Cindy Hanson - King's Kids Pre-School Director
I am a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where I received a BA in Education and met my husband. After four years in San Francisco, in the Army, we moved back home to Minnesota. When our oldest child was 4, I became the Director of King's Kids Preschool. I follow in many excellent footsteps (2002 marks our 30th year) and strive to keep our school doing its best for our students, families and teachers.
